Burning original paintings becomes a trend for NFTS

Damien Hirst burned hundreds of his original paintings, which are collectively valued at roughly £10 million, in order to carry out his promise to destroy NFTs as part of a digital art experiment. This “art-based social experiment,” as the well-known British artist Damien Hirst put it, will make use of non-fungible tokens, he claimed.

He broadcast the burning NFTs live. He went on to say that going ahead, the only type of art that would endure would be NFT paintings. Burning paintings for NFT is a unique notion by the artist, and it is suggested that many other artists may do the same in the near future. NFTs are digital workspaces, therefore they cannot be replaced. In 2016, Hirst created 10,000 individual dot paintings, each of which was sold for $2,000 after being linked to its own NFT in 2021. The artist has also included anti-counterfeiting components like watermarks in his creations to secure them.

The Currency is made up of 10,000 NFTs, special digital tokens that can be bought online and are each worth the same as 10,000 genuine pieces of art. The “wealthiest” artist in the UK is exhibiting there.

Hirst’s strategy was to give collectors the option of keeping their NFT or exchanging it for an actual piece of art while pledging to destroy any paintings that weren’t exchanged. Hirst’s sociological experiment, which contrasts the value of real art versus digital art, includes the project.

Collectors who paid the $2,000 base price for one of the NFTs had a year to choose whether they wanted to keep the NFT or exchange it for genuine artwork.

“A lot of people assume I’m burning millions of dollars worth of art, but I’m not,” Damien said on Instagram. By burning the originals, I’ve finished converting these tangible pieces of art into NFTs. It won’t be lost the worth of art, whether it be digital or tangible, is difficult to quantify even in the best of circumstances. As soon as they are burned, they will be transmitted to the NFT, and I will stream the entire burn right here on Instagram.
