Cointelegraph added that MiCA has been advancing gradually through the EU Parliament since September 2020.
According to Cointelegraph, the governor of the Bank of France has asked for stricter licensing requirements for cryptocurrency firms in France in light of the present turbulence in the market for cryptocurrencies.
On January 5, according to Cointelegraph, Francois Villeroy de Galhau stated that France shouldn’t wait for impending EU cryptocurrency rules before requiring regional suppliers of digital asset services to get licenses (DASPs).
It may not even be until 2024 before the crypto-licensing system established by the Markets in Crypto Assets bill (MiCA) of the European Parliament comes into action.

Villeroy stated, “All the chaos in 2022 feeds a simple belief: it is preferable for France to proceed to a compulsory licensing of DASP as soon as possible, rather than merely registration,” according to a recent Bloomberg story.
Cointelegraph added that MiCA has been advancing gradually through the EU Parliament since September 2020.
The crypto framework was negotiated by the EU Council, EU Commission, and EU Parliament and was adopted on October 10 by the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs of the European Parliament, according to Cointelegraph.
The final plenary vote on MiCA was moved from the end of 2022 to February. Stefan Berger, a member of the European Parliament, stated to Cointelegraph in November that the delay was brought on by “the massive amount of work for the lawyer linguists, considering the length of the legal language.”
