Staked Ether (stETH) is now locked on the Ethereum Beacon Chain and will be on the Ethereum Beacon Chain after the proof-of-stake Merge upgrade is finished on September 15, 2022. The decentralized finance (DeFi) system Lido is said to have developed the token, which now has a market cap of $4,48 billion with 3.5 million stETH in circulation. Users of stETH may now assure withdrawals of their cash with any relevant staking incentives for network transaction validation following the Shanghai update.

Cointelegraph also reported that Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, highlighted his end goal for the blockchain to operate as a simple base layer, with users “fully comfortable storing their assets in a ZK [zero knowledge]-rollup running a full EVM [Ethereum Virtual Machine].” Buterin also cautioned that sharding and data availability sampling was “complex technologies,” and their implementation would require years of audits and improvement.
