According to Cointelegraph, Offchain Labs, the company behind the Ethereum layer-2 network Arbitrum, has taken acquired Prysmatic Labs, one of the key development teams in charge of the Ethereum Merge.

According to Cointelegraph, Offchain Labs’ blog post from October did not disclose the deal’s financial details. According to speculation, Prysmatic Labs chose to merge with Offchain Labs due to similarities between the two businesses’ philosophies. The goal of the relocation, according to Raul Jordan, co-founder of Prysmatic Labs, is to assemble a solid team.

As an Ethereum team, Jordan explained that the merger with Offchain Labs “makes perfect sense to us because we create software heavily in Go, are fully incentive-aligned with the success of Ethereum, and are focused on providing great software for people to utilize.

Offchain Labs asserted that the future of Ethereum depends on layer-1 for consensus and data availability and layer-2 for execution and scalability on the basis of information provided by Cointelegraph. Despite their partnership, Prysmatic Labs and Offchain Labs expect their work to continue unabated, and they will continue to build Ethereum node client software under Offchain’s direction. They are still reportedly working on Prysm, an open-source and impartial consensus client, as well as implementing EIP-4844 data-sharing in real-world settings.

Furthermore, Prysmatic Labs, one of the key technical groups behind the Merge, developed Prysm, the Ethereum consensus client that drives the proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus on the Ethereum network, as highlighted by Cointelegraph. Two live chains, such as Arbitrum One and Arbitrum Nova, are being developed by Offchain Labs, a venture-oriented business supported by Princeton. Arbitrum is a chain of scaling solutions for Ethereum.
