According to reports, the cryptocurrency bear market has had an influence on how individuals make cryptocurrency-based payments, but despite volatility, Bitcoin is predicted to continue to be used as a payment method, per statistics from BitPay, as reported by Cointelegraph.
According to Cointelegraph’s insights, despite the cryptocurrency winter, the percentage of Bitcoin payments in all BitPay transactions has been declining. Nevertheless, Bitcoin is still regarded as a popular cryptocurrency for platform payments. According to Merrick Theobald, vice-president of marketing at BitPay, sales volumes of Bitcoin-focused payments on the platform amounted to 87% of total sales last year and 52% in the first quarter of 2022. Regarding transactions, the overall volume of Bitcoin-focused cryptocurrency payments is correlated with the amount of Bitcoin sold on BitPay.
Theobald said that BitPay saw a volume impact on non-stablecoin purchases since stablecoin sales persisted regardless of swings in cryptocurrency prices while highlighting that overall BitPay transactions remained stable despite the market decrease.

According to data from Cointelegraph, this year saw a decrease in the amount of Bitcoin payment transactions. According to BitPay’s data, the proportion of Bitcoin transactions dropped from 57% in March to 48% in July. Additionally, as Litecoin (LTC) transactions climbed from 14% in March to 22% in July, BitPay customers have used cryptocurrency payments for currencies like LTC.
Regarding the effects of a bear market, Bitcoin (BTC) is still listed as a preferred cryptocurrency payment method in BitPay and apparently accounts for more than 50% of all sales made there.
Additionally, Cointelegraph pointed out that BitPay, which enables consumers and corporations to pay for goods and services using cryptocurrencies, is one of the biggest cryptocurrency payment providers globally. In the US, BitPay offers cryptocurrency services through businesses including Shop.com, Verifone, and Newegg. The nation’s contribution drives and administrative payments have both been facilitated via the BitPay network.
