At $1.03 trillion, the market capitalization of all cryptocurrencies was practically unchanged over the previous day.
Cryptocurrency values moved within small bands as the clock ticked down to a big software upgrade of Ethereum, the most important blockchain in terms of trade in the digital asset industry. The biggest and most well-known cryptocurrency in the world, Bitcoin, was trading more than 1% lower at $20,016 as the price slide continued. According to CoinGecko, the global crypto market valuation today exceeded $1 trillion despite having been nearly unchanged over the previous 24 hours at $1.03 trillion.
The price of Ether, the second-largest cryptocurrency and a component of the Ethereum network stayed unchanged at $1,592. Ethereum is implementing proof-of-stake as its new consensus system. The Merge, which is expected to be completed in the coming hours despite several delays, may lead to further use of the blockchain.
The sellers’ pressure is supported by the small number of purchases. Buyers could be able to lift BTC above the $20,575 level, which might result in some potential higher movement. The second-largest cryptocurrency, Ethereum, doesn’t seem to be going in any direction. This turbulence in the cryptocurrency market might be brought on by Ethereum’s switch to PoS. According to Edul Patel, CEO and Co-Founder of Mudrex, it looks that as the Merge approaches, BTC and ETH are preparing for a large price shift.

The price of Dogecoin was also somewhat lower today at $0.06, while the price of Shiba Inu dropped by around 3% to $0.000012. The performance of other cryptocurrencies today has also declined as prices for XRP, Uniswap, Solana, Polygon, Avalanche, Binance USD, Polkadot, Tether, Litecoin, Chainlink, Apecoin, Cardano, Stellar, and Tron all fallen over the previous 24 hours.
Bitcoin has been confined to the trading range with the smallest spread because it is unclear how far central banks would increase interest rates in the face of a faltering global economy. Sentiment has been lowered by the collapse of the Terra/Luna ecosystem and the hedge fund Three Arrows Capital, and a number of cryptocurrency businesses have gone out of business or are struggling to survive.
