To improve these data transit and network coverage capabilities, the HIP 70 proposal has been created.
According to Cointelegraph, the Internet of Things (IoT) blockchain network Helium may transition to the Solana blockchain following the release of a revised HIP 70 governance proposal on August 30.
According to the Helium core developers, the network needed to “improve operational efficiency and scalability” in order to achieve “significant economies of scale.”
Members of the Helium network set up Helium Hotspots to offer local internet consumers decentralized wireless 5G network coverage. Helium awards HNT coins to Helium Hotspot providers once network connectivity has been verified using a cutting-edge consensus method called proof-of-coverage, according to Cointelegraph.

The HIP 70 proposal has been made, according to the Helium GitHub website, to improve these data transit and network coverage capabilities. In addition, helium-based HNT, IOT, and MOBILE tokens as well as data credits (DCs) would be added to the Solana blockchain if authorized.
For running the network, hotspot suppliers receive HNT tokens; node operators receive IOT tokens; 5G coverage providers receive MOBILE tokens, and DCs are utilized to pay transaction fees. The “The Hotspot” podcast’s presenter, Arman Dezfuli-Arjomandi, frequently stated on Twitter that “Ethereum was too sluggish” and “other options [at the time] weren’t all that appealing.”
According to Cointelegraph, HNT token owners will have access to the HIP 70 vote on September 12 via heliumvote.com. October 18 is election day. The announcement does not appear to have had a good impact on the price of the HNT token, which is now $5.23 and has dropped 15.5% over the last 48 hours.
