Justin Bons, the founder and chief investment officer of the cryptocurrency-focused fund Cyber Capital, has said as much.
According to Cointelegraph, Bons said in an 11-part Twitter thread that the value proposition of Bitcoin and BTC has decreased as a result of issues with a long-term security model, economic capabilities, programmability, and composability. According to reports, Bons has a reputation for being an outspoken member of the cryptocurrency scene who runs nodes on the Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash networks. Despite Bons’ 2014 defense of BTC prospects, he claimed that the situation has altered since then. “The world has advanced as well. I recall hearing that BTC will just absorb the finest technology. This hypothesis has demonstrably failed since Bitcoin lacks smart contracts, privacy technology, or scalability innovations,” he continued.

The head of China’s Blockchain Service Network (BSN), Yifan, declared Bitcoin to be a Ponzi scheme in June 2022. Rosa Rios, a former US treasurer and current member of the Ripple Board added that compared to other digital assets like XRP, which is utilized for cross-border payments, Bitcoin is a speculative instrument.
Additionally, Cointelegraph pointed out that the initial purpose of Bitcoin was as an electronic peer-to-peer payment method. Satoshi Nakamoto, the person who invented Bitcoin, aimed to address the idea that the speculation surrounding its value as an investment is only a byproduct of its primary purpose.
