Cointelegraph claims that in order to use the patent, data must be generated in response to a missing person situation and then made available publicly on the blockchain for verification.
Chinese technology giant Tencent obtained a novel patent for a blockchain-focused missing person’s poster with help from local news source 36kr.com. According to Cointelegraph, the patent took over three years from the date of its initial filing to be given in December 2019.
The patent requires a data creation request in the event of a person going missing, which is subsequently made available to the public on the blockchain for validation, according to Cointelegraph. Once consensus has been obtained in response to a request, data is stored in the public ledger and sent to nodes for broadcasting to a larger audience. Tencent explained in its patent filing how the design may use some work to make it easier to find persons who have gone missing.
According to Cointelegraph data, Tencent has conducted blockchain experiments with technology companies in order to explore the potential for integration with payment apps, despite China’s position on cryptocurrency legislation. However, the coinless FISCO BCOS blockchain, created in 2018 in partnership with the Chinese telecom corporation Huawei, was designed for creating decentralized apps.

Furthermore, Cointelegraph said that China wants to adopt a centralized approach to blockchain, with regulations favoring its central bank’s digital currency, the digital yuan (eCNY), over tokens developed by private companies. Recently, the nation introduced its first social security card that is eCNY-focused, enabling welfare payments to be made directly into the recipient’s account in digital yuan for spending.
According to Cointelegraph’s official website, it is a non-profit digital media outlet that provides a wide range of news on blockchain, digital currency, and developing trends in financial technology (fintech). They seek to disseminate information from both the centralized and decentralized sectors. Their editorial material strives to provide news, statistics, price charts for cryptocurrencies, opinion articles and reporting on the changes that digital currencies bring. Decentralization will spread and permeate everyone’s everyday life, according to their predictions.
