After the success of the Moonbirds, the PROOF team expands with the addition of an engineer in preparation for the launch of a “social universe.”
Divergence is an NFT technical team that has been bought by PROOF, a Web3 firm founded by tech entrepreneur Kevin Rose.
In April, Rose’s business unveiled the well-liked Moonbirds NFT project. It is currently developing a “social universe” software.
PROOF became one of Web3’s most talked-about projects in April thanks to the sizzling Moonbirds NFT drop, and the Kevin Rose-led firm is currently working on further launches, a new social platform, and other things. The company just hired a renowned development team to assist realize those goals.
Divergence, a London-based Web3 engineering team led by Arran Schlosberg and Angharad “Harri” Thomas, was purchased by PROOF, the company announced today. Both will join the PROOF as part of the acquisition-hire agreement, with Thomas taking on the role of director of product for the firm and Schlosberg being appointed vice president of engineering.
Divergence previously worked on the Ethereum-based smart contracts for the Moonbirds NFT launch and the PROOF Collective NFT membership pass. The crew has also contributed to other Web3-related initiatives, such as PREMINT and the Admit One community NFT pass from influencer and collector money.

Rose told Decrypt, “I’m simply pleased that they fit perfectly into our organization and really support us in a situation where we’re going to achieve extremely ambitious things that are done on-chain. There is no better group I want to assemble and recruit to assist us in achieving these goals.
Rose was originally drawn to Divergence by its Brotchain NFT art project, which produced entirely on-chain artwork using an Ethereum smart contract using just Solidity code. Thomas claimed that this had been thought to be “impossible” by some, but they accepted it as a challenge. The Kiss Precise and Proof of Art-Work are two of the team’s other NFT artworks.
Divergence then focused on features like allowlist procedures to reduce the commotion around popular NFT dumps and improved on-chain Dutch auction formats. In order to realize PROOF’s long-term goals, according to Rose, their expertise on both the engineering and product sides will be crucial.
A large plan is in place for PROOF for the upcoming years, which includes further NFT drops, a special conference in person in 2023, and many media efforts. In addition, the business intends to provide its own “social universe,” which resembles a metaverse in some respects but won’t be a 3D environment accessed via avatars like Decentraland or Facebook’s proposed metaverse.
Rose defined PROOF’s strategy as more of a “social communications layer surrounding NFTs,” or a Web3-centric combination of the well-known chat application Discord and the online forum Reddit. With the ability to browse users’ NFT collections in addition to other Web3 connectors, it is intended to aid serious collectors in coming together around common interests and holdings.
